Speaking of unusual losses, this year our immediate region has been affected by both significant floods and a significant earthquake event. Because of the misapprehension that insurance covers every type of loss, we want to highlight the two most glaring gaps – besides war or nuclear radiation. Our longtime clients may find this repetitive, but we believe it is worth reiterating:
- Unless you purchase additional coverage for your home and/or business, you are not covered for the damage caused by flood or earthquake.
- Flood means the rising of waters, not the bursting of pipes. The rates for flood and earthquake insurance depend on a variety of factors. There is no cost or obligation for us to provide you with a quote. We encourage you to contact your Commercial or Personal Insurance Account Executive to review these exposures and to decide if you want to be covered fully for these increasingly frequent events.
